Session 1

Onsday 5th Apryyl, Year 1456
Rolen (Elf cleric), Grum (goliath barbarian), Grubko (dwarf fighter) and Argii (gnome bard) sat at a table at the Golden Goose. John Trollkiller had just informed them that  he had been contacted by a potential client, a Dragonborn Erathis priest called Vengus.

As they learn when they finally meet Vengus, he needs help with a personal quest. Up in the Rumble Hills, roughly 70 miles from Drahar, there is a small village called Hommlet. They have been sighting a lot of orcs in the hills lately, and since Vengus' older brother Targis is the priest of the village and that the village is located outside the patrolled areas of the Empire, Vengus wants the former heroes to go check it out.

They agree on a payment of 1250 gp, 600 of which are to be paid up front.

They spend the rest of the day buying some rituals and creating some minor magical trinkets.

Torsday 6th Apryyl, Year 1456
The next morning, the heroes took the Northern Road (also called the Dwarven Gold Road due to it leading to Magyth, the Dwarven citadel famous for it's gold mines) and walked all day. They stopped for the night at the Black Beer Inn, where Argii sang in exchange for free rooms. They were alone at the inn, except for one other customer that kept to himself, sitting in a corner all night, watching them beneath his hood. Rolen thought he was suspicious, but no moves were made.

Freeday 7th Apryyl, Year 1456
Towards the afternoon, the heroes arrived at Hommlet, and found it burning. Among the still burning houses, they found a man (Vance) who was still barely alive. Before dying, he told them that the burg had been assaulted by around 50 orcs, and that they had been questioning leaders and scouts about a Temple called Aris.

Argii (or was it Rolen) cast a Last Sight Vision ritual on one that looked as if he had been killed, execution-style. They learned that the orcs were lead by half-orc mages and that they were indeed looking for the Aris Temple. But neither of the heroes could quite remember what the Aris Temple was.

As they were talking about the Last Sight Vision result, they were suddenly ambushed by some orcs who had doubled back in order to check for more loot. They were however no match for the heroes, although some of them did take quite a beating. The half-orc deathmages were especially nasty.

After the fight, Rolen picked up several orc trails (it seems that the group of 50 orcs had split up after sacking Hommlet), and the heroes followed it into the hills. After walking around for an hour or two, they ran into some more orcs, this time supported by Grummsh shamans and an Ogre with a mean backhand. The battle took place on a small bridge over a small ravine, and ended with all heroes alive. Grum was very exhausted though. They could probably have been much worse off, if Argii hadn't managed to use magic to push the Ogre into the ravine, hurting it considerably and buying the heroes some time to deal with the orcs.

On the orcs, they found a scroll which explained that the orcs were looking for the temple because of a portal inside the temple.

After the fight, they decided to find a spot to rest.

Lordday 8th Apryyl, Year 1456
After a good night's sleep, the heroes followed the tracks of the orcs that they had fought on the bridge, and lo and behold, that lead them directly to the entrance of the Aris Temple. The temple doors, which sat on the hill-side, were clearly the only way into the temple, but they were locked. Remembering that they had gotten a scroll with the Knock Ritual earlier, from the first orcs back at Hommlet, Argii pulled it out and (barely) managed to open the temple doors.

Venturing inside, the heroes first ran into a nasty hallway filled with blades and then a room with constructs of dragonborn and cobras that attacked them.

The fight was hard and long, especially the poison of the cobras almost proved fatal to some of the heroes, but in the end, the constructs were destroyed.
