After taking a short break (and being joined by Truxas and Targron), the Swords continued their quest to rid their manor of the evil that had invaded it. As it turned out, there was nothing left inside the manor.
Torn spotted a white wing and some arcane ritual being in progress inside the church. The swords hurried down and over to the church, where they ran into the leader of this mini-invasion. The church was full of demons (8 carnage demons, 2 vrocks, 2 frostforged wyrms and a yochtol) as well as a drow sorcerer. A long fight followed, and in the end, the Swords once again stood victoreous.
On the drow, they found a scrollcase with some instructions written in Abyssal. It became clear that they had been sent to take over the manor and secure the portal, so that the rest of the army of Yeenoghu could follow. With this option out of the picture, the Swords reasonably concluded that an eventual invasion of Drahar would have to come via the sea and thus via Blackkeep, or via a pass in the mountains. Sending an army of thousands through the Seven Pillared Hall would be asking for trouble.
Reasssured that nothing was going to happen right away, the Swords turned their attention towards rebuilding the Manor, making some magic items, and in general enjoying the adoration that was becoming immense, especially after the people of Drahar had realised that the Swords were the ones behind the killing of the dracolich that had brought the plague to town, as well as finding the ritual that cured everyone. A side effect of this good-will and adulation is that literally thousands of the refugees outside of Drahar have picked up their tent poles and moved to the west, to be under Kegar Manor's protection.
A week passed, with the words being busy starting up the rebuilding of their Manor, recruiting a new staff, as well as finding room and space for all the new arrivals.
Sonday 7th Phebroar, Year 26
Casey, one of the soldiers stationed at the mine, comes to the Swords and tell them that they have a problem. Over the past few weeks, the miners have been disappearing. Yesterday, one of the missing miners came out of the mine and down to Miner's Deluxe, the Inn/Tavern at the river. He was changed, with grey ripped skin and tentacle instead of an arm (Far Realm influence according to the wise people). He attacked the soldiers and other miners, but they managed to kill him. Not before he killed 13 soldiers however.
Now every single remaining miner refuses to return to the mine before someone has figured out what the hell is going on.
